Hello, my name is Damian Maciuszek and I'm 22 years old. I have been studying at the University of Derby since September. I am currently in Foundation Year in the field of Sport Management. For 3 years I have been changing places of residence all over Europe. I love traveling and sports. I chose to study in Great Britain because of the possibilities. But let's get down to business.
Who is studying in England for? Honestly to everyone! I decided to study in Great Britain because the system is different here than in Poland, the emphasis is on practice and actions, less theory. Personally, I am of the opinion that the student will remember more from practice, forging on a sheet metal does not make sense. Classes are held 2-4 days a week; usually one class lasts about 3 hours. So, the primary focus is on efficiency.
Exams also require more thinking than sheet metal work. Research done and your opinion is the way to success! On exams, in the form of an essay, we describe what the world will be like in 20 years; we discuss orally which jobs will be replaced by technology and which jobs will be safe.
It is important that EU students are entitled to a maintenance loan from the British government, so you don't have to worry about funding your studies. But if you would like to know the details of financing, be sure to contact Edu4u!
The important thing is that a lot of people from all over the world study here, so acquaintances and friendships are really easy and pleasant to make. What will be useful in the future. If you are concerned that you do not know enough English to learn here, eliminate the thought immediately, the teachers will help you; and by listening and telling you will quickly improve your language skills.
Outside of class, there are plenty of Societies to join. Among others, there are film, music, language, political, business, e-sports and even Quidditch groups. Also, at the University of Derby you can practice many sports, incl. American Football, Archery, Cricket, Lacrosse, Dodgeball, Kayaking and Winter Sports. The university has several campuses in the city, which translates to the fact that there is a main building with some infrastructure and other specialized. Students learn in the realities of their future professions, incl. in the operating theater, in court, in labs, on the radio, or on Wall Street.
As for accommodation, you can live in dormitories (cost around £ 500 / per month) or in private rooms (around £ 300 / month). In terms of the cost of living, such as food, entertainment, students spend around £ 300 / month. Willing people will certainly find a job, I earn money online, but I earn some extra money on Uber Eats, where you can earn around 12 pounds per hour. If someone is not afraid of hard work, he can start with an employment agency that will send a person, e.g., to a factory, 12 pounds / h in such work is the norm! Derby is a student town, so if you fancy partying, you will feel very good at such studies, due to the large number of bars and clubs.
Students also have a lot of discounts, e.g., for transport, e.g. free buses in Derby that go to the university and other campuses, discounts on food or clothes are the norm. In England you live and study completely differently than in Poland! It's easier for sure! Also, if you are still hesitating, I tell you, go to England to study. I applied myself, and I had many difficulties with it; First of all, I was without IELTES (it is not necessary to study in the UK, but not all universities are easily accessible without it). Today I am convinced that if I applied with edu4u, I would definitely save myself time and stress! Edu4u will help you get things done from A to Z, from accommodation and work options, through a student loan, to choosing the right course if you don't know what you want to go on yet! Therefore, apply to edu4u and you will certainly gain a lot from it!
